One of my resources is Google Groups. I use it constantly for research, because the purpose of an article is to inform. On groups, you find people asking questions. Answer them. It is simple enough to do as searching Google for your keyword.

Get used to using longtail keyword phrases, because you wish to be very specific in searching for answers. This is the key to good research. Knowing about this type of research is essential, because it cuts down the search factor in time saved by a great deal. If you get in the habit of doing this, you will be much more successful with your research and writing.

A point well taken - if you try to sit down to write with a vague idea of what to write about, but have no clue as to where to begin, remember that almost every topic known to man has been written about some where on the web. If you do a search, and find important information, expand on that. I have zero tolerance for plagarism, but I am also very aware of the fact that every topic has been covered somewhere. And it is where I get my ideas. I simply put my own spin on something I find relevant to the topic I am writing about.

Do this on a regular basis. You will find that it is a great tool to have in your writing arsenal. And your pocketbook will thank you…

I am one of many people who have realised the many benefits that writing articles can bring. Article marketing is now widely recognised as an excellent way of promoting a website, however there are many more opportunities out there to make money for the budding writer.

I just happened to stumble across the idea of writing articles around eight months ago when I was discussing different forms of website promotion with a friend of mine. I was looking at ways in which I could attract more visitors to my own sites and he advised me to commence writing articles.

The advice was sound and I have not looked back since. Writing articles is a superb way of gaining extra one-way backward links to your site and the readers of each article are also potential visitors.

I attempt to write around seven articles per week which is not easy at times but is something I am aware will help my sites.

Other people are also aware of the benefits of article marketing but just do not have the time to write themselves. There are a number of websites where each writer can notify people of their services and where other people can post a project that they would like to be completed.

Other areas where people can earn additional cash from their skills is via writing freelance for newspapers and magazines. If your skills are of a higher enough quality and what you write is of interest to a wide audience, there is no reason why you could not earn money in this way.

Writing has never been more in demand and now is the time for people who feel that they have the gift to make the most out of this opportunity. There is a lot of rubbish being written on the web at the moment and quality will always stand out.

Many people might argue that they are not well enough educated to be accepted as a writer in certain quarters. This may well be correct for some people out there, however if you do not try you will never know. Content is king as they say and if your content is good enough and of interest, why would people have an issue with your lack of examinations etc.

Ensure that your content is easy to read and that all of the words are spelt correct. The world is your oyster, go for it.

Bum marketing is one of the easiest, and free, ways to earn an online income!

Another term to describe Bum Marketing is Article Marketing. With that, I mean to say that you promote a product, or service, by writing an article about it. You then post that article on article sites, and use it in your email campaigns.

Travis Sago coined the term ‘Bum Marketing’ to indicate that it is free and easy to do.

Just remember that your main goal is to earn an income, that you are busy selling something.

And it all starts with Long Tail Keywords: a more in-depth search term, consisting of around four words. Lets take recipes as an example. You can search Google with recipes, and then see terms like ’seafood recipes for diabetics’. Thats it!

So, you have to do your research, to be successful at Bum Marketing: 1. Find a fairly popular search term, one that gets around 200 000 searches a month. Our example is ’seafood recipes for diabetics’. 2. Now, go to www.clickbank.com and click on Marketplace, top right. 3. Type ‘your search term’ (without the inverted commas) in the keyword section and hit search. 4. Select your product, with your Clickbank Affiliate ID, and save it in your word processor, where you’ll be typing you article. You might also want to cloak your affiliate link, just search Google for ‘free affiliate link cloaking software’. 5. Go to your favorite search engine, e.g. Google, and do research on your topic. Remember, you don’t have to be an expert on a topic to write about it, you just have to know how to do research. 6. Visit the different websites, and copy and paste relevant sections in your word processor. Do not leave it like that; you’ll just use ‘their’ work to come up with your own version. About two pages full shall do. 7. Work on your article, use your own words, and ensure that you have: a. An introduction, with definition. b. The body, with lots of small paragraphs. c. The conclusion of your topic. d. Your Resource Box, which is a brief introduction to yourself, and a direct link to your website or blog. 8. Go to www.ezinearticles.com, and others you prefer, and submit your article for revision. 9. Promote your article on your website, and in your emails, and wait for the money to come in.

I have been impressed with the ease with which a Wordpress blog can be indexed, but have never had success in any strategy as I have with Squidoo.   I spoke on the phone today with Fraser of Azoogleads and we discussed using Cost Per Action on Squidoo.  He seems to think this is a good idea.  I had originally signed up with Azoogleads on advice from Noah Fleming at Bum Marketers.  He is having some success with this on Squidoo.

The conclusion will wrap up your points and drive in what you are saying in your article.

The outline for your article would also require you to write a draft first. This may take more than one attempt but remember that it is called a draft for a reason. Your outline shall be perfected as each draft is written and this draft is meant for your eyes only so theres no reason to feel ashamed. As you go on, you will clearly see the bigger picture and write an article that will perfectly suit what is demanded of it.

Reread and reread what you have written down. Always refer to your outline so that you wont drift away from what you had first written down. Its not hard to be caught in the moment and get lost in your writing frenzy. Your outline will help you keep in track. All those hours spent in outlining your article will not go to waste. This will serve as your guide in writing articles. Trust and rely on your outline because this will prove to be a very helpful tool in writing all of your articles.

Writing for the web is not like writing the next great American novel.  You should write in the same tone you use to communicate in everyday life.  Doing so gives your reader a chance to get to know you.  A few errors can be forgiven, but remember that we now how such tools as work check and can really give no excuse for typo’s any longer.

Article marketing is one of the best methods of free online advertising. There are many sources of free advertising online but, sadly, with most of them you get what you pay for: nothing. Article writing and publishing is different: it is both free and effective.

There are some people who simply cannot or will not write. A webmaster who cant write or refuses to will have the choice of hiring a ghost writer (expensive), buying ‘limited edition’ pre-written articles that will be sold to a few hundred other webmasters (cheaper but still a significant dent in the advertising budget) or republishing articles offered on article directory websites (free). Writers can be divided into two categories: the ones who find writing easy and the ones who dont. There is such a thing as a ‘natural’ writer just as there are natural born artists and musicians. The natural writer can produce an article in the time it takes for a cup of coffee to cool down to drinking temperature and, at the same time, be planning the next article and the one after that. If writing comes easily to you, you will probably find that the process of submitting your articles to other webmasters and directories takes longer that the actual writing.

When you have managed to craft a few articles you will find that thinking up subject matter and finding enough to say is no longer a problem (trust me here, even though it might seem unlikely its true), so just start writing.

Make the subject of your first article something you understand and, preferably, enjoy. The subject, for the purpose of this exercise, is irrelevant. You could describe how to saddle a horse correctly, the right way to swing a golf club, the best way to spring clean a house, the history of pizza, how to keep your fingernails in good condition or literally anything you can think of. The list could go on and on, everyone has an interest or an idea about how to do something. It doesnt matter if your first article never gets published, use it as a test run, concentrate on the technique of article writing.

For this exercise aim to write an article of not less than 500 words. That might sound a lot but it is about one page of a word processor document with the font set at 12. Having decided upon a topic for your article, imagine you are telling a friend about it. For ezine articles it is normally better to adopt an informal, conversational tone that lets the reader know you are sharing information, not lecturing or talking down to him.

Start with a general introduction to your subject, follow that with 3 or 4 paragraphs dealing with different aspects of the topic and finish with a closing paragraph. The closing paragraph can be very brief but it is better to round the article off than just appear to stop because you ran out of steam. Its a bit like ‘thats all, folks’ or ‘The End’ when a movie finishes.

When you have written your article get a friend or relative to read it and give an honest opinion. The two most important things to find out are whether the article was interesting and whether it succeeded in explaining what you set out to convey. You can ask for points for artistic merit but style can be polished as you gain more confidence in your writing. The ability to get your message across is vital. The next step is to write an article, using the same format, on a subject related to the business you want to publicise.

The final thing required is to invent an attention grabbing title for your article and the transformation will be complete. You are now a writer.

Does that title sound confusing? Well, I can understand that, but once you finish reading youll see that writing articles the wrong way round will speed up your writing and get you much better articles.

Writing an article seems like a daunting task, and if you do it for the first time you might feel like standing in front of an unsurmountable sleek wall that does not provide footholds to climb up and over it to reach your goal. But its quite easy, if you approach article writing in a systematic, step by step way. Lets look at these steps and find out how you can write an article in a few minutes, once you have mastered this 6 step system:

The Six Step System For Article Writing

This is the most efficient and, in my experience, fastest way to write about any subject:

- define what your goal is for the article - do research if necessary - prepare an outline - start writing any part of the article - organize the article into headline, lead, body, conclusion - proof read three times at least

Who Will Read The Article - What Is The Article About?

Before you start writing, you need to define what you want to communicate with your article, and what purpose the article will serve. Ask yourself these questions: Who is the reader you want to reach, what knowledge of the subject does this reader have allready? What exactly do you want the reader to know once hes read your article?

Best use a list with keywords to jot down your ideas. Dont worry about organizing these keywords yet. Once you have a bunch of keywords, start putting them in a logical sequence, the way you want to organize your story. When you have decided how your article will appraoch the subject, prepare an outline how you want to pass on this knowledge and / or information. Then start giving your article a structure.

Structure means divide the article into the four sections: headline, lead or teaser, body and conclusion. Here is the secret to effective writing that will make writing your own articles fast and painless: You dont have to write these in the order I just mentioned them! Because it can be really difficult to come up with a good headline or teaser, if you have not written the article itself. Also dont necessarily write the article body in the sequence that it will have once its ready for publishing.

It is a lot easier to first start off with a few bullet points for the body of the article. Developing these bullet points into sentences and paragraphs often, all of a sudden, leads to a great headline, or you will think of the best reason why this article provides benefit to the reader. That way you let your thoughts flow freely and dont get writers block.

The Headline

Its allways good to start writing a first headline for your article. The headline may change as you write. But start off with the best headline that comes to mind now. Headlines should be catchy and induce curiosity in the readers mind. Best keep your headline short, seven words or less is good. Also make it strong and affirmative: ‘Write your Article in 10 minutes’ is better than ‘How to Write an Article in a short time’.

The Lead or Teaser

To get the readers attention, its important to start off with a lead paragraph that very briefly describes what you are going to tell the reader and why. You must grab the readers attention and give him a very good reason why reading your article is worth his time.

A great way to write an article is to start the lead paragraph with a statement, then go through the explanations and information that you want to pass on and, in your conclusion, draw a line back to the initial statement you made. This neatly wraps up everything and in the mind of the reader encapsulates the article.

A good lead is short and to the point. It doesnt try to compact every fact you write about in the article body into two or three sentences. Just provide enough information to get the story moving, but leave the reader wanting to know more.

The Body

In the body you go into detail and cover the points that you have written down in your outline. Here you provide the hard facts, the information and the instructions. You answer the readers questions and you show different angles of the subject.

Organizing this information in a logical way is the most important thing. Think of the flow of the article and make sure you have a thread that leads smoothly from one point to the next. Make sure you dont use jargon or spcific words that are only known in an industry or trade and not used by the public. If you need to use these words, explain the meaning. Put the reader at ease.

Explain your points in short paragraphs. Short paragraphs are easier for the reader to follow. No one likes to look at a long block of solid text. Three, four or five sentences are enough for one paragraph.

If you are writing to create interest for your business, spill all the beans! Tell your trade secrets! This may sound a bit wild, but the more you tell, the more demand will be created for your goods and services.

Provide personal examples of the points you make, or create a ficticious case and show how in practice such a solution would work well. Illustrating your explanations with an example makes understanding what you say a lot easier for the reader and your text gains credibility.

The Conclusion

Remember your favourite teacher at school, the one that at the end of class would quickly summarize what was covered in the last 45 minutes? Thats what you are going to do now to finish off your article and make it a finished and polished piece. Reread your lead, where you started the circular loop that you now want to bring together by writing the conclusion.

For this article the conclusion could read like this: ‘Writing the wrong way round and mixing body, title, tease and conclusion whilst writing does lead to faster writing and better results, because you let your thoughts flow free and avoid writers block. When youll be writing your next article, footholds will magically appear on that wall that earlier used to block your writing. Go and try it!’

Its allmost allways possible to draw the circle closed, and if it does not seem to be doable with the teaser that you have, read the entire article once more and maybe change the teaser to be able to draw that circle.

Proofreading

The best way to destroy credibility is poor grammar and spelling. Your content may be brilliant, but if there are mistakes, people will tend to dismiss what you have to say. So use the tools that are available to spell check and have a friend, or better, a few friends proofread your article before you submit it or publish it yourself. Best leave the article for a day or two and then reread it yourself. Often youll come up with even better formulations and the article will gain in quality. Dont overdo this, thouhg. Once is enough for your own rereading, then go out and publish. Youve done a great job and spent time and effort to write, now others want to read what you have to say!

… and even though Ive written the conclusion allready as an example, heres it true spot, so here we go again, this time reworded just slightly:

You see, writing the wrong way round and mixing body, title, tease and conclusion whilst writing does lead to faster writing and better results. This writing style allows your thoughts to flow free, lets your creativity develop thoughts and associations. Because you avoid writers block that way, youll be writing your next article fast and without pain. Footholds will magically appear on that wall that earlier used to block your writing. SEO, or search engine optimization, refers to making certain changes to your web site so that it gets ranked higher in search engines. In a recent study, it was found that over 85% of all web users use search engines on a regular basis to surf the web. Hence, website owners want to get their web sites ranked high in search engines for terms that are commonly searched. There are two ways to improve your search engine ranking, having other sites link to your web site and updating your site with fresh new content.
Getting links to your site is considered by many, including myself, to be the most important aspect of search engine optimization. The more links you have to your web site, the higher your page rank will be and the better your search engine rankings will be. When building links, the quantity and quality of the links both matter. For example, having 100 links in link directories, link farms, and forums is usually just as effective as 5 or 6 links on a reputable web site with a high page rank. Hence, many people both submit their web sites to a large number of link directories, but also take the time to make exchanges or purchase links on web sites with high page ranks. (When purchasing links, make sure that the link you are purchasing is from a site with a high page rank and a good amount of traffic as many search engines, including Google often penalize web sites for purchasing links.)
Article directories are also an effective method of building content embedded links. To use article directories, simply write an article and include your links within the article. Then, submit the article to a number of article directories. Other web site owners will visit these article directories, take the articles you have written, and place them, along with your links, on their site. If many people like your article and use it on their web site, you can build a large number of quality links. Also, Links that are embedded in content generally are more valuable then regular side bar text links.
The other main aspect of search engine optimization is content writing. Search engine spiders that crawl your web sites like to see fresh content and the more original articles you have on your site the higher your web site will rank in search engines. When writing articles for search engines, it is helpful if the articles are unique so that can not be found on any other web site on the Internet and are keyword dense. (Keyword density refers to featuring a certain keyword many times in your article while still making the article sound natural.
The purpose for this is that search engine crawlers will see that your web site is about the keyword you use and your web site will rank higher in search engines. However, if you overdo this, you will often be penalized by search engines.)
If you have a web site, you should spend some time with SEO. For best results, focus on building as many quality links to your site as possible and be sure to keep your site updated with fresh original content.
